Destiny Campaign Update

April 13th Miracle Sunday Offering

After 40 days of prayer devoted to the Destiny Campaign, April 13th was designated as the Sunday where our church community would come ready for the miracle offering and 2-year pledge. We received a total of $137,003.93 which significantly exceeded our goal of $100,000! It was the largest one time offering ever received in our church history, and we were humbled and amazed.

The 2-year pledge target was to raise $500,000 within two years, and the offering and pledges from the April 13th celebration totaled to about 80% of the target. We are thankful for the dedication and faith of our church members and are hoping that all of our alumni contribute their involvement through giving and prayer.

It's Not Too Late to Get Involved!

Graduation Weekend

Every fall we see a new crop of bright eyed freshmen enter our church community. And every spring we see a group of students graduating from our undergraduate and graduate ministries - many who will be leaving Ann Arbor to different parts of the nation and world.

This year our annual grad night was filled with testimonies from graduates who praised God's faithfulness and grace. Despite whatever spiritual roller coasters, trials or tragedies that we heard from our graduates' different stories, our Lord's love proved to be constant and the same. The freshmen, sophomore and junior classes blessed the graduates with hilariously clever and sentimental presentations that included VH1 quality videos, musical themes from Grease and Rent and heartfelt thanks and wishes to the graduates.

What used to be the Graduation Lunch turned into a Graduation Dinner this year, hosted again by our Focus ministry. Focus members shared from their own funny perspectives and misconceptions about the working life when they were students, and encouraged the graduates for all that laid ahead as they prepared to leave behind their student career.

It is our hope that our ever increasing HMCC alumni population are being use of God to build His kingdom all over the world!

What are you currently doing in your field?
I'm in graduate school for my M.A. in Teaching - Elementary Education

Please share any favorite memories from HMCC
One of my favorite memories from HMCC and Ann Arbor would have to be pick-up soccer at the Scrub field, across the street from Fuller Park. The summer of my sophomore year, we probably played about 3 times a week. If you had small group on Tuesdays, you played on Wednesday, and vice versa. It was a ton of fun, and I got to meet a lot of strangers that joined us through the weeks. I definitely miss the fun and competition of HMCC sports, informal and formal.

What did you take away from HMCC that you are thankful for?
There are so many things that I'm thankful for, but one that always comes to mind is the guidance, love, and friendship of my sisters in Christ during my years in Ann Arbor. I always knew I had the best mentors than anyone I know. I knew it to be true in the past, but I believe it so much more now that we're living apart from one another.

What are some professional and personal goals you hope to attain in the future?
Professionally, I hope to graduate from school, finish my thesis, and be hired in one of the Chicago Public Schools. Personally, I hope to be faithful in the things that God has given me, and to grow in my relationships with family, friends, and my new church community HMCC-Chicago. OH! I'd love to see the Cubs win the Worlds Series this year!
